Mac App Store
Installs and updates through the App Store. Pro is bought inside the app.
Direct download
A notarized DMG from this site. Open it and drag bIRC to Applications. It checks birc.app for updates and tells you when a new version is out. Pro is a license key, bought on the Pro page.
Requires macOS 14.6 or later.
What's different
- Sandbox. The App Store version runs in Apple's app sandbox. The direct version doesn't, which is what makes it possible to sell outside the store. Both are signed by me and checked by Apple.
- Your profiles follow you. Server profiles and identities sync through iCloud, and passwords live in your Keychain, so both versions see the same servers. Preferences, message history and scripts are per version.
- Pro is bought per version. An App Store purchase doesn't unlock the direct version, and the other way around.
